Moscicki: time to replenish CDER leadership

FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research is seeking to promote internal candidates and to recruit externally to "replenish" senior management positions, Richard Moscicki, CDER's deputy director for Science Operations, told BioCentury. Moscicki was SVP and head of clinical development at the Genzyme Corp. unit of Sanofi (Euronext:SAN; NYSE:SNY) prior to joining FDA last year. "We are starting to see a turnover in senior leadership at CDER," Moscicki said in an interview with BioCentury This Week television. "These are people with many, many years of experience. I think we are in a moment when we need to be prepared to replenish leadership, to renew the people who will bring CDER into the future." In addition to promoting FDA staff, the agency is looking for individuals with drug development and management experience from academe and industry, he said.

Open positions at CDER include director or deputy director roles in the Office of New Drugs, Office of Generic Drugs, Office of Pharmaceutical Science, Office of Regulatory Policy, Office of Compliance and Office of Hematology and Oncology Products. ...
