Industry data proposal takes effect, access portal launched

To date, five companies have committed to provide access to trial data through the ideaPoint portal: GlaxoSmithKline plc (LSE:GSK; NYSE:GSK), Boehringer Ingelheim GmbH (Ingelheim, Germany), Roche (SIX:ROG; OTCQX:RHHBY), Sanofi (Euronext:SAN; NYSE:SNY) and ViiV Healthcare Ltd. GSK and Roche have both previously publicly committed to providing access to patient-level trial data. On Thursday, Sanofi said it will provide access to clinical data for trials that have been submitted to EU and U.S. regulatory agencies for products that have approved by both agencies starting Jan. 1, 2014. Boehringer has not previously said it would provide access to data and could not be reached for details on what trial data it plans to make available. GSK, Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) and Shionogi & Co. Ltd. (Tokyo:4507) own ViiV. Pfizer also has committed to providing clinical trial data (see BioCentury Extra, Dec. 4, 2013). ...
