PCORI to award $120 million

The Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute announced plans to award $120 million in grants this year after its board voted on Monday to formally adopt a revised set of research priorities and agenda. The institute said $96 million will go toward projects addressing four of its five broad priorities: comparing alternative prevention, diagnosis, and treatment options; improving healthcare systems; comparing communication approaches to providing comparative effectiveness research information; and addressing potential differences in prevention, diagnosis or treatment effectiveness, or preferred clinical outcomes across patient populations.
