HHS panel recommends more oversight of gene tests

A Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) advisory committee recommended increased regulatory oversight for genetic tests in a preliminary report that was released for public comment on April 17.

The HHS Secretary's Advisory Committee on Genetic Testing (SACGT) concluded that because of "the rapidly evolving nature of genetic tests, their anticipated widespread use, and extensive concerns expressed by the public about their potential for misuse or misinterpretation, additional oversight is warranted for all genetic tests." ...
