USDA: Biotech seed sales to dip, not crash

Sales of bioengineered seeds to American farmers are likely to dip significantly this year, but the collapse that opponents of the technology have predicted is not likely to occur, according to a survey released Friday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

For the first time, USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) included questions about seeds derived from biotechnology in an annual survey conducted during the first two weeks of March. The survey asked about 50,000 farmers what they intend to plant in the coming year. ...
