Moderna reveals new funding

mRNA therapeutics company Moderna Therapeutics Inc. (Cambridge, Mass.) raised $474 million in a private round with existing institutional investors, its pharma partners and undisclosed new institutional investors. The round includes $140 million that partner AstraZeneca plc (LSE:AZN; NYSE:AZN) invested on Aug. 10.

Moderna now has $1.4 billion in cash. In a late August regulatory filing, Moderna revealed that it had raised $451.4 million toward the new round (see BioCentury Extra, Aug. 29). ...
