Ziopharm raises $87.5M in follow-on

Ziopharm Oncology Inc. (NASDAQ:ZIOP) raised $87.5 million through the sale of 10 million shares at $8.75 in a follow-on underwritten by JPMorgan; BMO Capital Markets; Griffin Securities; Maxim Group; and Mizuho Securities.

Last month, Ziopharm and partner Intrexon Corp. (NYSE:XON) saw their share prices surge after they licensed chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell technology from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, Texas).
