Merck to Emulate inflammatory diseases

Emulate Inc. (Cambridge, Mass.) said Merck & Co. Inc. (NYSE:MRK) will use the biotech's Emulate Small Airway Lung-Chip and Intestine-Chip technologies to predict organ responses to Merck's discovery-stage candidates for undisclosed inflammatory diseases. The companies have studied lung diseases using Emulate's organ-on-a-chip technology under an existing partnership.

Financial details were not disclosed. Merck has the option to add organs, diseases or drug programs to the collaboration. Emulate has developed at least 10 Organ-Chip systems, including liver and kidney systems. ...
