Roche proposes 'pay-for-performance' plan for Avastin in Germany

Roche (SIX:ROG; OTCQX:RRHBY) is proposing to reimburse insurers and clinics in Germany for Avastin bevacizumab if the cancer treatment fails. Under the "pay-for-performance" plan, insurers and clinics that sign a contract with Roche would be reimbursed for the full cost of Avastin in patients that experience disease progression during the first months of treatment, according to the pharma. Roche said the time frame for reimbursement would vary for each indication. Depending on the type of cancer and treatment regimen, Avastin costs on average EUR 3,000-EUR 6,000 ($4,165-$8,331) per month.
