Resverlogix gains as RVX-208 meets Phase IIb endpoint
Resverlogix Corp. (TSX:RVX) gained C$0.18 (12%) to C$1.75 on Tuesday after oral RVX-208 met the primary endpoint of increasing HDL-C from baseline to week 24 vs. placebo in the Phase IIb SUSTAIN trial in 176 patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and low HDL-C who were receiving statin therapy (p=0.001). RVX-208 also met the secondary endpoints of increasing apolipoprotein A-1 (APOA1) and large HDL particles from baseline to week 24 vs. placebo. Additionally, Resverlogix said increases in alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels were infrequent and transient with no new increases observed beyond week 12 of the 24-week trial. Plaque regression data from the Phase IIb ASSURE trial evaluating RVX-208 to treat atherosclerosis in patients with acute coronary artery disease (CAD) are expected in 1H13.
