Karo Bio discontinues eprotirome on toxicity concerns

Karo Bio AB (SSE:KARO) fell SEK0.82 (68%) to SEK0.38 on Tuesday after discontinuing development of eprotirome based on data from a 12-month toxicity study in dogs. Karo Bio said the thyroid hormone receptor agonist, which was in Phase III testing for heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH), produced cartilage damage in the animals.
