Cancer immunotherapy approaches attempt to recruit two general immune system responses. These are the activation of specific cytotoxic T cells (the cellular response), and the production of antibodies by B cells (the humoral response). In each case, CD4+ helper T cells provide an added layer of stimulation to the pathway, Th1 cells in the cellular case and Th2 cells in the humoral case.
