Henney vote possible, maybe

WASHINGTON - Sen. James Jeffords (R-Vt.) has scheduled a vote this week by the Senate Labor and Human Resources Committee on the Clinton administration's nomination of Jane Henney to be FDA commissioner.

Henney submitted responses to a second set of questions from committee members last week. But although the vote has been placed on the Labor Committee's agenda, it is not certain that it will take place, according to spokesperson Joe Karpinsky. He noted that several other nominations and other committee business are ahead of the Henney vote, and given the tight Senate schedule, there is no guarantee she will be considered this week...
