Kessler rumors

WASHINGTON - Contrary to rumors floating around Washington, the Clinton administration has not formed a committee to search for a replacement for FDA Commissioner David Kessler, according to a White House official involved with appointments.

The process of identifying a nominee "is not very far along," said the official, who asked to remain anonymous. "Doctor Kessler was gracious enough to agree to remain in place until we find a successor, so we've been focusing our efforts on a number of assistant secretary positions" before working on the FDA slot. "Right now, we're just accepting resumes from people interested in the job."...
