New biomaterial legislation introduced

WASHINGTON - Three members of Congress last week introduced legislation in the Senate and House intended to limit the liability of biomaterials suppliers.

Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., and Rep. George Gekas, R-Penn., said that the " Biomaterials Access Assurance Act of 1995" will limit the liability of suppliers of raw materials for implantable medical devices to cases in which they fail to meet contractual specifications or serve as the actual manufacturer or seller of the device itself. ...
