Japan launches AMED to foster innovation

The Japanese government launched the Agency for Medical Research and Development on April 1. The agency, a Japanese counterpart to NIH, is intended to foster medical innovation and drug development in the country.
AMED is expected to manage medical R&D and clinical data, assist research institutes in managing intellectual property, act as a hub for collaboration between industry and academia, develop systems for R&D infrastructure including biomarkers and diagnostics, and establish international strategies for collaborative research. ...
