UCSF chancellor to become CEO at Gates

The not-for-profit Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation named Susan Desmond-Hellmann as CEO, effective May 1. She will succeed Jeff Raikes, who is retiring. Desmond-Hellmann will step down as chancellor of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) on March 31. She has held the position since August 2009 and will retain her faculty appointment at UCSF. Prior to joining the university, Desmond-Hellmann was president of product development at the Genentech Inc. unit of Roche (SIX:ROG; OTCQX:RHHBY). ...
