U.S. specialty drug spending predicted to grow by 63%

Express Scripts Holding Co. (NASDAQ:ESRX) said it expects U.S. specialty drug spending to grow 63% by 2016 compared to 2013, driven primarily by a predicted 1,800% increase in spending on HCV drugs like Sovaldi sofosbuvir from Gilead Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ:GILD). In its 2013 report on drug trends, the pharmacy benefit manager said no major therapy class has experienced this high a spending increase since it has tracked drug trend data. ...
