PCORI commits up to $1B in research funding

The board of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute approved a resolution to commit up to $1 billion in research funding over the next two fiscal years. The board also set the institute's FY14 budget and approved a new strategic plan that includes the goal of speeding the implementation and use of results from patient-centered outcomes research.

PCORI also published a revised methodology on conducting comparative clinical effectiveness research. The revision updates a draft version published in July 2012. Additionally, PCORI's board approved two new advisory panels, which are expected to meet for the first time in spring 2014.
