CIRM awards $32.3M for stem cell bank

The California Institute for Regenerative Medicine awarded $32.3 million to nine recipients -- including seven universities, one institute and one biotech -- to create a stem cell bank under CIRM's Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (iPSC) Initiative. The initiative hopes to collect, create, store and make available to researchers 9,000 iPSC lines representing 11 diseases. The company, Cellular Dynamics International Inc. (Madison, Wis.), received $16 million for an episomal reprogramming system to generate three iPSC lines. ...
