ABPI, DoH separate drug pricing negotiations

The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry and the U.K.'s Department of Health said in a joint statement that they will now separate negotiations on the country's proposed value-based pricing system and Pharmaceutical Price Regulation Scheme (PPRS). The value-based pricing system would cover pricing for new drugs launched on or after January 1, 2014, while the PPRS would cover pricing for the majority of drugs on the market as of Dec. 31, 2013. Drug pricing in the U.K. is currently regulated under a voluntary PPRS that expires at the end of 2013.
