Report: FDA must improve hiring and retention

FDA "continues to have significant workforce and management challenges" and needs to take steps to improve its hiring process and improve management, retention and development of talent, according to a report from the not-for-profit Partnership for Public Service. The group noted that the agency has taken positive steps since 2007, including the introduction of a fellowship program, new training for medical device reviewers, a peer review program and the use of visiting scientists, as well as the return in July of FDA's HR office to the agency from HHS.
