More rumors of Life Tech bids

New rumors of competing bids for Life Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:LIFE) surfaced on Tuesday, sending the company up an additional $0.86 to $66.19. Shares of the tools and reagents company have gained 20% since the company announced in January that its board retained Deutsche Bank and Moelis & Co. to assist in its annual strategic review. According to unconfirmed rumors, Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (NYSE:TMO) submitted a bid to acquire Life Technologies for $65-$70 per share by a Tuesday deadline for offers. A $67.50 price would value Life Tech at $11.5 billion based on 170.4 million shares outstanding at Feb. 25. A Thermo Fisher spokesperson declined to comment.
