Galera raises $11 million in series A

Galera Therapeutics Inc. (St. Louis, Mo.) raised $11 million in a series A round co-led by new investors New Enterprise Associates and Novartis Venture Fund. New investor Correlation Ventures also participated. Galera also hired Mel Sorensen as president, CEO and a director. He was formerly president and CEO of cancer company Ascenta Therapeutics Inc. (Malvern, Pa.). Galera co-founder and acting CEO Robert Beardsley will become executive chairman. New Enterprise Associates' Frank Torti and Jim Barrett joined Galera's board, along with Novartis' Campbell Murray and Henry Skinner. ...
