Zook steps down as Vivus CEO

Vivus Inc. (NASDAQ:VVUS) said Anthony Zook resigned as CEO and a director due to recurring issues associated with a previously diagnosed medical condition. Zook became CEO in late July as part of a settlement of a proxy battle between Vivus and activist investor First Manhattan Co. The biotech hired Seth Fischer as CEO and a director to replace Zook. Fischer retired as company group chairman at Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) and worldwide franchise chairman at J&J's Cordis Corp. subsidiary last year (see BioCentury, July 22). ...
