NICE recommends mirabegron for OAB subgroup

The U.K.'s NICE issued Betmiga mirabegron from Astellas Pharma Inc. (Tokyo:4503) for the symptomatic treatment of overactive bladder (OAB) only in patients for whom antimuscarinic drugs are contraindicated or clinically ineffective or have unacceptable side effects. The committee said Betmiga was "likely to be a cost-effective treatment" in this subset of OAB patients, despite the "uncertain" cost-effectiveness of Betmiga compared with antimuscarinic drugs as a class.
