AZ reports Phase Ib data for MEDI4736/tremelimumab combo

AstraZeneca plc (LSE:AZN; NYSE:AZN) presented interim data at the American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting from a dose-escalation Phase Ib trial of the pharma's MEDI4736 plus tremelimumab ( CP-675,206) to treat refractory non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In 15 patients in the first five cohorts of the trial, 3-15 mg/kg IV MEDI4736 plus 1-3 mg/kg IV tremelimumab every four weeks was well tolerated with no dose-limiting toxicities (DLTs) reported. Grade 3/4 adverse events included colitis, an increase in amylase and a reduction in alkaline phosphatase. Additionally, one patient in each of the 10 mg/kg MEDI4736 plus 1 mg/kg tremelimumab and 15 mg/kg MEDI4736 plus 1 mg/kg tremelimumab cohorts achieved a greater than 50% reduction from baseline in tumor size.

AstraZeneca said it also will add a cohort to evaluate MEDI4736 plus tremelimumab to the Phase III ARCTIC trial of MEDI4736 to treat NSCLC. ARCTIC is slated to start next quarter, with data expected in 2017. Last month, the pharma also started the Phase III PACIFIC trial of MEDI4736 to treat locally advanced, unresectable NSCLC. ...
