DNAP adds to Calgene's license portfolio

In a further tightening of the technology ties between agricultural biotechnology companies, Calgene Inc. purchased for an undisclosed amount an option for a non-exclusive license to DNA Plant Technology Corp.'s Transwitch technology.

CGNE's option is for use of the technology - which employs "sense" rather than antisense to turn off genes - in CGNE's oil products and in combination with the polygalacturonase gene in CGNE's fresh market tomatoes.
