The heyday of digital health may not yet even be on the horizon, but investments in the field are certainly starting to hit the radar in the areas most likely to impact patients first -- digital therapeutics, biomarkers and tools for disease management.

From 2007, the year Apple Inc. launched the first iPhone, venture and public investments have grown from $2.6 million to over $2 billion, almost all of which was raised since 2013.

Investment has hovered around $400 million per year for the past three years.
