Infinite innuendo

Congressional investigators last week announced they had discovered what they suggested might be a devious scheme by a prominent scientist to improperly use his authority as a government employee to collaborate with an Ivy League university and a startup biotech company for personal gain. Sounds like zealous investigators have untangled yet another example of that familiar trio - waste, fraud and abuse - doesn't it?

Well, based on the improprieties suggested by the House Energy and Commerce Committee, if there is a plot, it is more tortured than devious. Even taking the committee's assertions at face value, it is clear that the case thus far is long on innuendo and short on facts...
