Germany to increase biotech funding

The German research ministry BMBF last week announced it was planning to increase its biotech funding for 2003 by 6.5% from E660 million ($624 million) to E703 million ($665 million).

Funding for research proposals in the areas of health and medicine, molecular medicine and biotechnology will rise by modest amounts of 3%, 4%, and 4.3% to E103 million ($97 million), E52 million ($49 million), and E120 million ($113 million) respectively, compared to 2002...
