Skladany in for Suydam

With little prospect for appointment of a permanent FDA commissioner until after the fall congressional elections, Acting FDA Commissioner Lester Crawford has been taking steps to emphasize that an acting commissioner can act. But last week, word leaked out that the White House had tapped Linda Skladany, who is closely connected with the Republican Party and the pharmaceutical industry, to replace Linda Suydam, who was head of the Office of Communication and Constituent Relations (OCCR) under FDA commissioners David Kessler and Jane Henney.

Skladany will leave her post as vice president for congressional relations at Parry Romani DeConcini and Symms, one of Washington's top lobbying firms, while Suydam has been named president of the Consumer Healthcare Products Association.
