I would like to share with your subscribers a further examination of the impact of my Prescription Drug Consumer Protection Act of 1993 on the biotechnology industry.

My legislation does not make explicit distinctions between biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. However, the biotech industry has traditionally behaved differently from the pharmaceutical industry with regard to product pricing, innovation and research and development.
