Why Atlas raised its first opportunity fund devoted to post-series A rounds

Atlas Venture designed its newest fund to allow the firm to invest more money in post-series A rounds raised by the companies it has backed from inception.

Atlas recognized an opportunity to put more capital to work in downstream financings than previously feasible under its core fund structure, said Atlas’ Jason Rhodes. He called the Atlas Venture Opportunity Fund I, announced Wednesday, long overdue.
