Predix: Ferreting out GPCRs

Many companies are pursuing G protein-coupled receptors, but because these proteins are membrane-bound, crystal structures of these targets are rare. Predix Pharmaceuticals Inc. is addressing this issue via computational structure-based discovery.

The company originally was founded in 2000 as Bio-IT Pharmaceuticals Ltd. But with IT out of fashion, the company has changed its name to Predix. Chief Scientific Officer and co-founder Oren Becker said the name change "makes clear that our business is drug discovery and development. We're doing this with information technologies, but we're not in the IT business."...
