febit: An all-in-one solution

Many biotech companies are formed because the inventors made a discovery and then looked for an application of that technology. However, the founders of febit GmbH took the approach favored in marketing textbooks: they identified a need and set out to create a solution. The need they identified was for a single device that biologists could use to rapidly perform a variety of microarray experiments.

The idea is analogous to combining a fax, a printer, a scanner and photocopier into a single, multi-functional device. In febit's case, the company has melded two major technology advances of the last 10 years, microarrays and microfluidics, into one device by combining DNA arrays with its Geniom System, a device that does photolithographic DNA synthesis, fluid handling, hybridization and detection in one benchtop instrument...
