Amazon joins NIH's STRIDES Initiative
Amazon Web Services Inc., part of Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), has joined NIH's Science and Technology Research Infrastructure for Discovery, Experimentation, and Sustainability (STRIDES) Initiative, which will allow researchers participating in the initiative access to Amazon's cloud technologies.
The STRIDES Initiative, a biomedical data access partnership with Google Cloud from Google Inc.'s parent company Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG), was launched in July to capitalize on NIH's Data Science Strategic Plan. The strategic plan is intended to serve as a five-year road map for managing the deluge of data generated by NIH and NIH-funded researchers, and charts a course to facilitate sharing and lower barriers to usage by modernizing NIH's workforce and tools (see "Meta on Data")...
