HHS’s Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) amended an option it exercised last August under the company’s September 2012 contract to develop a cell therapy to treat thermal burns from radiation injury. The amendment increases the amount Cytori may receive to $14.1 million from $12.1 million to support activities in 2015. Cytori’s product comprises a patient’s own adipose-derived stem and regenerative cells (ADRCs) that are processed by the biotech’s Celution System. ...
