A federal judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut upheld a November jury verdict that awarded Enzo $48.6 million in direct patent infringement penalties in a suit against Life Technologies. The judge denied Life Technologies' motions arguing that Enzo's infringement claims are barred by laches and/or equitable estoppel. Enzo filed a new motion for an award of prejudgment interest on the $48.6 million in damages, which Enzo said totals $25.6 million.

Last November, the jury found that Life Technologies' sequencing instruments induced its customers to infringe Enzo's U.S. Patent No. 5,449,767. ...
