UCSD researchers and colleagues published in Cell the identification of the T2R family of 40-80 human and rodent GPCRs expressed in taste receptor cells. The researchers noted that the receptors are genetically linked to loci that influence perception of bitter taste, and that biochemically the T2Rs respond to bitter compounds and signal through the G protein alpha subunit gustducin. ...
