Duke researchers and colleagues published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences that angiostatin, an anti-angiogenic protein being developed by EntreMed Inc. (ENMD, Rockville, Md.), binds to the alpha and beta subunits of ATP synthase present on the surface of endothelial cells. Antibodies against the enzyme prevented by 90 percent angiostatin's antiproliferative effect on cultured cells. ...
