The Seattle company published its discovery of an enzyme that boosts levels of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and its screening of enzyme inhibitors to block that action.
TNF-alpha protease enzyme inhibitor (TAPI) prevents the production of soluble TNF, the company reported in Nature. Unlike other TNF inhibitors that physically bind to TNF, TAPI prevents the release of TNF from cells. Excess soluble TNF is implicated in septic shock, arthritis, asthma, and transplant rejection. ...
