ISIP (Carlsbad, Calif.) announced an anti-AIDS candidate discovered through the same proprietary, combinatorial selection strategy that has produced antisense agents.

In the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the company described the action of a parallel-stranded, sulfur-box structure against spread of the AIDS virus in test tubes. The drug binds to the V3 loop and prevents fusion of HIV with uninfected cells. ...
