A transgenic mouse, which inappropriately expresses interleukin-4, develops a thinning of bone that resembles human osteoporosis, according to university scientists.

The disease in the mice appears to result from decreased bone formation by the osteoblast cells in bone, similar to the process in human involutional osteoporosis. ...
