BGM Galectin-3 test regulatory update

BG Medicine said the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a final decision to set the 2014 payment rate at $30.01 for its BGM Galectin-3 test, which is approved as an aid for assessing the prognosis of patients with chronic heart failure (CHF). The 2013 payment rate is $17.80. The company said the rate is subject to a 2% sequestration applicable to Medicare services if the current sequestration extends beyond Jan. 15.
