Zonegran zonisamide regulatory update

The Scottish Medicines Consortium recommended against the use of Zonegran zonisamide on the National Health Service (NHS) in Scotland as a monotherapy in newly diagnosed epilepsy patients with partial seizures, with and without second generalization - its approved indication. The consortium said it did not receive a submission from Eisai for the indication. The anticonvulsant that blocks sodium (Na) and calcium (Ca) channels is also approved in the EU as an adjunctive therapy for partial seizures with or without generalization in adult epileptics. Dainippon markets the product as Excegran in Japan. ...
