VerifyNow P2Y12 assay regulatory update

The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) updated its guidelines for managing acute coronary syndromes (ACS) in patients presenting without persistent ST-segment elevation to include a Class IIb recommendation stating that platelet function testing may be considered in selected cases when Plavix clopidogrel is used. The updated guidelines also recommend that increasing the maintenance dose of clopidogrel based on platelet reactivity assay results may be considered, but is not advised as routine. Accumetrics' VerifyNow P2Y12 assay is approved in the EU to identify patients with high residual platelet reactivity on antiplatelet therapy at risk for cardiovascular events. ...
