RTS: Additional Phase II data

Data from 447 evaluable children aged 5 to 17 months in a 4-year follow-up of a double-blind, Kenyan Phase II trial showed that there were 551 episodes of malaria in the RTS,S combined with the AS01 adjuvant treatment group vs. 618 episodes in the rabies vaccine control group, for a vaccine efficacy rate of 16.8% over 4 years (p=0.18). The researchers said that the vaccine efficacy declined over time (p=0.004) and with increasing exposure to malaria (p=0.001).
