Portrait Toxigenic Clostridium difficile Assay diagnostic data

A prospective analysis of 214 liquid and soft stool samples showed that Great Basin's Portrait Toxigenic Clostridium difficile Assay had 97.6% sensitivity and 96.4% specificity for detecting C. difficile infection compared to toxigenic bacterial culture, with a positive predictive value (PPV) of 87.2% and a negative predictive value (NPV) of 99.4%. The comparator BD GenOhm Cdiff Assay had 97.7% sensitivity, 99.8% specificity for detecting C. difficile compared to toxigenic bacterial culture, with a PPV of 95.5% and an NPV of 99.4%.
