Cambridge team produces atlas of genome-proteome interactions

In a collaboration with Merck & Co. Inc. (NYSE:MRK) and SomaLogic Inc., University of Cambridge researchers have identified associations and causal relationships between thousands of genetic variants, plasma proteins and disease states, which could reveal novel therapeutic targets as well as new indications for approved drugs.

In a June paper published in Nature, the Cambridge team performed genome-wide testing of 10.6 million autosomal variants in 3,301 healthy volunteers against levels of 3,622 different proteins. The analysis identified 1,927 associations between 1,478 proteins and 764 genomic regions. ...
